What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 or Coronavirus disease is an infectious disease caused by the newly discovered coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). This infection known to be transferred human to human as of now.

People infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and do not require special treatment. But people with an existing illness such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer most likely to develop more serious illnesses.

Impact on lung function after COVID-19 infection

In the recent studies conducted on the impact of Coronavirus 2019 on lung function suggested mild to moderate impact on lung function and lungs to regain the performance required due time. Some studies have suggested there are damage ranges from 10-30% reduction in lung capacity due to pulmonary fibrosis.

Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition where scars formed in the inner lining of lung tissue. As a result of that, the patient suffers shortness of breath and lower lung function. Patients with respiratory conditions required more attention and supervised care.

Lung function tracking

As studies have suggested and there are evidences where patients recovered from COVID-19 infection suffered with lower lung function. Therefore, there is a critical need for measures to improve lung function over the period and continuous lung function performance tracking. In the wake of COVID-19, alveofit has extended its ecosystem services to lung performance tracking to help patients.

By using alveoair (personal spirometer), patients can track lung performance and maintain the logs to measure improvement. Most importantly early tracking or diagnosis of low lung function will help to get medical attention early and prognosis will be better.

alveofit also allow help patients to generate reports ready to be shared with physician and physician can make more accurate decision to design a line of further care and treatment protocols.

As part contribution to the cause, alveofit has taken the decision to roll out the alveoair device at 50% cost to the patient recovered or recovering from COVID-19 infection. So that, patients can be benefited from the alveofit services.
